Need an accompanist? Want to jam? This program is for you! The basic idea works like this: Load a Standard MIDI file which contains music you wish to play plus accompaniment tracks. View your part on the computer screen as standard music notation or in piano-roll format. Then, play your part on a MIDI instrument.  
 
While you play, Home Concert will track your performance and play the other tracks as a coordinated accompaniment. In other words, you play, Home Concert follows! You play the "solo" part on a MIDI keyboard or other MIDI instrument, and Home Concert plays the accompaniment, following your timing, tempo, and dynamic changes! It's like having a private orchestra and conductor to play with you every time! Best of all, Home Concert will even "turn the pages" for you automatically as you read the music on the computer screen.  
 
What is truly amazing about this is that the Home Concert actually "listens" (via MIDI) to your playing. Acting as a sensitive conductor, Home Concert monitors your location, tempo, and volume and leads a perfectly-coordinated accompaniment. It's like having a personal back-up band which will follow your every musical inspiration as you play the solo part! Unless you are working in Learn Mode (see below), Home Concert will even tolerate mistakes in your playing.  
 
Home Concert works with thousands of existing MIDI files! Whether the file is an advanced piano concerto or a beginning or intermediate piece from a piano method, Home Concert is ready to work for you. As long as your MIDI file is organized to logical beats and barlines (as are most commercial and Internet MIDI files), your MIDI file is compatible with Home Concert.  
 
Features  
Home Concert has three user modes:  
- Learn Mode is for someone who is first learning a piece. For every note in the solo part, Home Concert waits for the user to play before proceeding with the accompaniment. It will show the user what note(s) it is waiting for, not only in notation or piano-roll view, but also on an on-screen keyboard.  
 
- Jam Mode is for the person who does not want to play the solo part in a strictly accurate fashion. In this mode, Home Concert does not follow the user's tempo, but does let the performer set the initial tempo, and will respond to the performer's dynamics.  
 
- Perform Mode is Home Concert's specialty, and is what makes it a truly remarkable piece of software. In this mode, you're the "boss", and can play the solo part at whatever tempos and dynamics you like. Home Concert plays the accompaniment synchronized to your playing; it will even let you jump around from one part of the song to another, without having to tell it anything!
