Use a notation program to print your own music! Also known as scorewriters, almost all notation programs will let you record, edit, arrange, transpose and print your music. How easily you can get this done, how good the music looks when it prints out all depends on the program. |
|
- Number of staves & voices - some programs are limited by the number of instruments they allow
- Part extraction - do you need to print a score and parts? If so, will the program allow?
- Lyrics & Guitar Tab - most programs will let you add your own lyrics and guitar tab, but not all of them will automatically re-align them if you make changes or transpose.
- Advanced markings - make sure the program allows you to enter any markings you need - bowings, percussion cymbals, etc. Do they move when you copy or transpose the music?
- Output - does the print out look professional? Is it easy to adjust the layout for your "style". Does it support exporting to other programs such as Word? Can you publish on-line? Can you automatically create a CD from the music? Does it have a built in sounds to use if you don't have a professional MIDI synth or keyboard?
